My favorite music groups vs Millennials and Gen Z

by   Nicholas de Lioncourt on August 29 2022 11:07 zulu

When I am either writing, coding, or working on one of my myriad projects, I have noticed these are the groups I return to again and again.

Not of sufficient interest to anyone; which, of course, I understand.

Everyone has favorite music bands, and no one cares. I am no different. I am certainly not special - yet - still - I have always thought that the more aligned the music preferences, the more aligned two personalities and the greatest probability for close friendship.

Meaning: I dislike the Beatles and 1960s culture, have no interest in Led Zeppelin, detest Madonna, and suffer headaches from ALL pop (non)musicians favored by the Milennial and Gen Z generations; instead, my Depeche Mode collection is over 200 releases, and I might have the largest assemblage of Visage CDs known...

...so I might not be among the top considerations for an obsess'd fan of classic 1960s music, who might not appreciate my ADMIRATION of Ronan Harris' (gifted) compositional work in VNV Nation (try 'Illusion' beautiful... or 'When is the Future').

Anne Rice and her silly tomes

by   Nicholas de Lioncourt on June 29 2022 10:30 zulu

No... once again: I abhor Anne Rice's puerile vampire-penny-dreadfuls (the former Anne Rice, I recently discovered). The name 'Lestat de Lioncourt' was not her creation; rather, Anne Rice's French-illiterate larceny. She has no claim to the family name or the origin.

Writing openly, in adolescence I read her first book at the request of a classmate; yet the second release in her 'Vampire Chronicles'... unreadable. I did not finish. A novelized emetic. From a plot summary of the third release, continued mindless insensibility - which describes the author, as well... I could not tolerate the absence of creativity, or her risible (re)vision of the 'vampire'. My opinion, reader, used toilet paper offers a more compelling story.

I am a descendent of Guy de Lioncourt, French composer (1885-1961); and if our genetic resemblance is not obvious, well, perhaps consult your nearest ophthalmologist:

Hilarious Spam Extortion Attempts - Some Suggestions

by   Nicholas de Lioncourt on October 06 2021 12:41 zulu

For a few years, I have received email variations on this common spammed-attempt at extortion; and as I cheerfully delete each one, I muse to myself '...sure, yeah, you go ahead and do that - knock yourself out..."

Yet, considering the persistence of these mass-spammed messages over the years, I must assume there is some measure of success.

If I were asked for advice: ignore these messages, and understand that maintaining hyper-vigilant paranoia while using any network-connected device - whether wi-fi or More...

My informal explanation for communism's inexorable failure

by   Nicholas de Lioncourt on August 19 2021 04:11 zulu

While sorting through archival files, rediscovered my informal explanation for communism's unalterable, inexorable failure. Cannot recall if I had posted this previously.

For whom I created this, I no longer recall; so, I will publish this for others' armament against the Socialist Simpletons & Communist Cuckolds.

Grammar - On Using Passive Voice

by   Nicholas de Lioncourt on July 17 2021 02:03 zulu

NEVER USE PASSIVE VOICE!

Ignore that. Ignore the other rules, as well.

Disregard the gibbering of anyone promoting "the right way to write".

For Family Part 3 Updated Photograph Requested

by   Nicholas de Lioncourt on May 23 2021 05:47 zulu

To all who know my age: tiguidou! et ouais, bien sûr, moi, j'continuais à vieillir comme tous les mecs - mais... comment l'écrire... juste un peu plus - plutôt plus que moins - lentement (sourire diabolique).

For Family Part 3: Updated Photograph Requested; so, Noelle provided this one - her criterion was, '... your eyes matched your shirt!' (um, exciting... yeah... just right-click, then 'save as'). As soon as I find a photograph Noelle does not seem to 'hate', I will upload one of her - she looks no different from those in Part II.

Again, only a twisted mind would have requested a 'close-up'; nonetheless, once saved to your PC, please do not zoom into this photograph to see my greying locks and flaws (...& they be many, both that is to write). Certainly, zoom-in and study the image; no filter enhancement or flaw-concealing technique was used . All my pores and epidermal hairlines are there.

As well, 4 out of 5 physicians agree that this photo may be used as a visual emetic - LNDL.

First Movie Correction - The French in Sherlock Holmes

by   Nicholas de Lioncourt on January 18 2021 11:10 zulu

I actually wrote a "Goof" entry on IMDB.

I ignore mistakes in movies; if the narrative delivers entertainment, I consider errors moments of creative license.

Yet, while watching the superior 2009 "Sherlock Holmes" - superior in that Robert Downey Jr., elevates any film - I heard the French giant approach Holmes and ask, "You missed me?", yet what he said in French was "Do I miss you?".More...

L. Nicholas de Lioncourt and Noelle de Lioncourt Part 2

L. Nicholas de Lioncourt when still an artist in 1994

L. Nicholas de Lioncourt, the artist era 1994. Yes, before De Lioncourt, LLC., and before my career in technology, I was a fine artist. In the photograph, I had just started this acrylics on board artwork, and at this stage the piece was still a vastly incomplete underpainting. I had aspired to combine the Pre-Raphaelite style, with some elements rendered almost impressionistic and others, hyper-realistic. Why I ended this stage of my life so abruptly; almost overnight, is a complex narrative on the mutability of the mind, facing truths about yourself, and the advent of the Internet.

The work in the next photograph is a completed piece demonstrating my style. This was to be part of a series featuring abbey ruins - in this piece a stained-glass cloister. Created using acrylics applied with brushes, toned with Iwata airbrushes, on sealed 3-feet wide x 4-feet tall hardboard, 1995.

L. Nicholas de Lioncourt with finished piece, when still an artist in 1995

Artwork © 1995 L. Nicholas de Lioncourt, designer and creator. Yes, I removed as much of my face as possible! For the spotlights to emphasize; not glare on, the art, the glare was focused on my face just as I made a funny - and hideously silly - expression.

L. Nicholas de Lioncourt, now-and-then, 1986 and 2011

L. Nicholas de Lioncourt, 1986 and 2011. I discovered my forgotten denim jacket, and took a now-and-then portrait. On the left, the white cat was one of my many rescues; and in the 2011 photograph, my still-with-me puppy-cat, Bailey.

(yeah, my hair... was AWESOME in the 1980s: blonde streaks atop luxurious black and auburn locks crowing dark facial stubble. No, perhaps not up to modern standards of style; nonetheless, attracted the girls, and at that age, what else mattered? Hate the vintage game; not the vintage player).
